ABOUT INVITATIONS

Wedding Invitations are usually sent by the parents of the bride. However this can be changed according to every situation. Invitations should be mailed about six weeks prior to the celebration and during the summer and holidays they should be mailed about eight weeks, since people plan to travel during those times.

Generally there are about three different situations that will change the wording format of each invitation:

Invitation to the Wedding Celebration: They are invitations used to invite family, friends and acquaintances to both the Wedding Ceremony and Reception. It includes time frame for both the ceremony and reception.

Invitations to Ceremony Only: They are invitations used to invite family. Friends and acquaintances to the wedding ceremony usually held in a church or a different place other than the reception. This format is ideal for some couples that would like to have a small or intimate reception. Reception cards can be used as inserts and can be enclosed with the invitation and sent only to a limited quantity of people such as close relatives and friends.

Invitations to Reception Only: This format is ideal for couples that would like to have an intimate ceremony and have a big reception afterwards. The invitation announces the marriage, date and city (excludes time and actual place and address) only and then invites to the reception. Ceremony cards can be used as inserts and can be enclosed with the invitation and sent only to a limited quantity of people such as close relative and friends.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Wedding Announcements are mailed immediately after the ceremony to those who didn’t receive and invitation or live far away. In some cases they are used by couples who wanted to have a really private wedding but want to share their joy with everybody.

INSERTS

Inserts are little cards enclosed with the invitation. Most commons inserts are Reception and Ceremony Cards. Others include RSVP cards, designed to request a reply needed for the planning of a meal or buffet as part of the celebration; and Wedding Breakfast and Dinners inserts.
